Challenge

The brief

Water test kits give you numbers but don’t tell you what they mean for your tank. The aim was an app that reads a test the way an experienced fishkeeper would and says plainly what needs doing, plus a website that explains it clearly ahead of launch.

The approach

What I designed and built

  1. Water tests entered by colour, using sliders that match liquid test kit colours

  2. Ammonia graded on the toxic fraction worked out from the same test’s pH and temperature

  3. A tank diary for water changes, feeding, dosing and livestock, with reminders based on your own history

  4. Private by design: no account, no analytics, works with no signal and keeps data on the device

  5. A single-page launch site with a live app preview and a one-email “tell me when it launches” sign-up
